Research Methods in Psychology is a first edition. The doughnut cover above was the final chosen draft, the two below are drafts I supplied as options.
The brief asked for an image of a cake or something alike to represent the book. I found this image of a doughnut broken into sections which I felt perfectly embodies the idea of different approaches to research. Each segment can be seen as a distinct method that contributes to the whole understanding of psychology. The segmentation also creates visual interest and implies a structured, yet approachable, breakdown of information. The "broken" aspect is about deconstruction and analysis, which are core to research.
The cherry pie option shares some of the strengths of the doughnut, making it a good alternative. Like the doughnut, a cherry pie cut into slices also clearly depicts segmented parts of a whole, this conveys the idea of different research methods contributing to a complete picture.
The pineapple on top of an ice cream, cone is a more abstract and thought-provoking option, which aligns well with the "Psychology" aspect. The pineapple leaves represent various "research routes" or pathways, this suggests that research isn't always a linear process and can involve exploring different angles and approaches. I thought this image is less conventional than the others, which could make the book stand out on a shelf.
